One Dead, Many Injured As Herdsmen Attack A Community In Kwara

Communal clash between Fulani herdsmen and indigenes of Lata in Patigi local government area of Kwara state has led to the death of a person.

During the unfortunate incident, reports gathered that scores sustained different kind of injuries in the clash

However, dangerous weapons like knives, cutlasses were freely used by the people, as chaos clouded the agrarian community while the crisis lasted.

The Police public relations officer of the Kwara state command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident and stated that normalcy has been restored in the area.

The Police Spokeperson explained that some indigenes of Lata community in Patigi local government area of the state accused the Fulani herdsmen of riding their motorcycles in dangerous and rough manner.

Thereafter, Fulani herdsmen were confronted and altercation ensued between the two parties over the way the Fulani men had acted.

It was then realized that one of the Fulani men sustained serious wound during the melee that followed. 

"We also learnt that the Fulani herdsmen left the seen to mobilise and came back for a reprisal attack on the indigenes of the area. While many of the Fulani herdsmen were reportedly wounded in the crisis that ensued, one of the indigenes was reportedly killed and many sustained varying degrees of injuries."

The PPRO disclosed that the Commissioner of Police Kayode Egbetokun deployed some men in the area having gotten the information, while calm has been restored and our men are still there to monitor the situation.
